Our Vision
Independently in our own businesses, we each have proven track records for embracing a challenge, finding a solution and delivering a result. Together when tackling this project, we shared a frustration that the Fruit Market area could ultimately turn out to be just another carbon copy of a community elsewhere in the UK and relished the challenge to deliver a distinctive area.
We shared a philosophy that this scheme required a long term commitment to the area, through long term ownership and management. Our passion was about protecting this unique area of Hull, preserving the heritage and providing opportunity for local people to input into the scheme. As a result, the area would continue to evolve and it's uniqueness, that has built up through generations, would be preserved.
We were also particularly focussed on proposing a deliverable, achievable scheme, one that Hull would be proud of, could raise our City's profile, attract and retain our own people but also encourage others to visit. Notwithstanding this our ideas were ones of realism, which would provide true enhancement to the area.
Our view was that the success of this scheme would require consideration of what's needed in the City... what is needed and what people want? Which is why we spent time talking to local people, organisations and institutions to capture their thoughts, allowing our architectural team to produce informed designs. These testimonials were an important part of our bid.
