Background
Hornsea town has an attractive mix of traditional houses and shops in a variety of sizes and styles. The retail focus for the town is Market Place and Newbegin comprising individually owned specialist stores with a small number of national small stores.
ispace has been working with East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Hornsea Parish Council since 2005 to devise a scheme for the town.
With ground and first floor space created, the scheme folds around the introduction of a town square opening out onto Newbegin. With a 6,000sq ft retail unit backing onto Hall Garth Park and 8 additional retail units all varying in size from 500sq ft to 17,000 sq ft and maximising frontage onto Newbegin or the town square, this scheme will create a much welcomed shopping environment. Shop storage, 7 duplex apartments and a managed office scheme, ideal for small business and new start ups, will comprise the first floor.
We would expect to submit planning before Easter 2007 at which time plans and artists impressions will be released.
