Cottingham Food Store Public Consultation starts today!!
ispace today present their plans to the public for a 45,000 sq ft supermarket scheme at Station Road in Cottingham.
The scheme is to incorporate a petrol filling station, cafe/restaurant and 300 free car parking spaces and 300 jobs. Cottingham does not currently provide a food store that supports the residents of Cottingham doing a weekly shop, retail surveys also show that the residents of Cottingham spend £22M per annum on food however only £2.1M of this is spent in Cottingham village centre, a staggering 90% of residents travel out of Cottingham to do their weekly shop in Willerby, Beverley or Hull.
The re-development site at Station Road is currently a poor quality commercial site that originally derives from a previous railway siding, the site lends itself extremely well to a food store development due to its size and close proximity to the village centre.
