Planning granted for Holderness Road food store
2011 has proved to be very busy for the team at ispace who are celebrating planning approval on their third major food store this year. The announcement has delighted the team who have been involved with the site on Holderness Road, Hull since 2003.
ispace have worked closely with local traders due to be affected by the plans and have now successfully relocated most businesses to suitable premises with more than 200 jobs safeguarded.
The application for the food store which is a joint venture between ispace and Dransfield Properties was extremely well supported by the planning committee who gave the plans their total backing. The company’s commitment to regeneration was evident in the proposals and was very well received by local councillors who are keen to see this important gateway to the city redeveloped.
A supermarket has yet to be secured for the site but ispace have been in discussions with three of the major four chains and all of them have expressed an interest in this prime location. The development will house a major food store with over 600 underground car park spaces and will also play host to six separate high street shops fronting Holderness Road. The project is expected to generate 500 new jobs.
